CAMDEN, DE. – The first state is hoping to get the youth interested in Delaware’s #1 industry agriculture.
Thanks to a USDA grant, the state’s farm bureau has purchased 1,000 agriculture books that will be placed across elementary schools, as part of their book barn project.
The books will teach children about the crops grown across the state. The Farm Bureau says it’s important to teach children about farming and where our food comes from.
Laura Simpson from DFB says, “We do a whole 30 minute presentation, we talk aboutt healthy eating, and how the food goes to the farm to lunch box, we talk about farming as a career choice.”
They plan to place the book barns in every single elementary school within the next 3 years.
